Who We Are

OUR BEGINNING:

FreshNews.com was created to fill a void in the coverage of timely news for the fast growing and important local San Diego technology scene. In June of 1996 FreshNews.com - SDTN began as an Internet news weekly offering free service on the world wide web. In January 2000 FreshNews increased its frequency to daily news coverage. In February 2005 FreshNews.com expanded its coverage into Orange County, California and added Defense West News as part of its news mix. Defense West News covers news of defense contractors/contracts and closely affiliated companies, in the areas of Defense, Aerospace, Homeland Security and other related defense news that may impact the defense industry in the Western United States.

On April 20, 2009 FreshNews began its nation-wide technology news expansion program. It now covers fresh breaking technology news in all 50 U.S. states.

FreshNews.com is an informative in-depth news daily that is primarily content driven by press releases generated by local U.S. technology companies. Companies are afforded an opportunity to tell their story in their own words. Media partners such as Business Wire, PR Newswire and Market Wire aid in the extensive tech media coverage that FreshNews generates.

Today, there still is no other news organization who covers the local state-wide technology scene in as much depth or as fairly as FreshNews.

OWNERSHIP:

FreshNews.com is published by St. John Publishing and headquartered in Washington state. It is headed by Larry St. John, its editor-in-chief and publisher. Before founding FreshNews he had been president and publisher of several very successful consumer magazines and trade publications. He has operated his own direct marketing company as well holding executive positions in the advertising and public relations agency business. He also spent many years in broadcasting as both as on-air personality and in advertising sales management.

MEDIA COVERAGE:

FreshNews.com has received media coverage in the San Diego Union Tribune and as far away as South Africa where it was applauded by a monthly magazine called, Intelligence. FreshNews.com has also been included in links by major internet services right along with other media organizations like: Wall St. Journal, CNN, New York Times, L.A. Times etc. FreshNews is also an important local news content provider for Time/Warner Cable and UCSD Connect.
