24/7 Auctions Inc., North County's first eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY) consignment store, has opened in Vista at 1037 E. Vista Way, providing customers with a convenient, professional, confidential turnkey service for selling their items on the world's largest online marketplace, according to Tom Harris, owner of 24/7 Auctions.
Harris said that 24/7 Auctions is ideal for people too busy to manage the logistics of selling on eBay or who don't have daily Internet access to monitor the sale of their items. Customers who want to sell on eBay can conveniently drop off their unpacked items at 24/7 Auctions, where experts evaluate and digitally photograph them, write accurate descriptions, then store and list them on eBay to help generate the highest bid possible. 24/7 Auctions then monitors the eBay auction for the item and handles all buyer inquires. Once the eBay auction ends, 24/7 Auctions handles payment processing and shipping of the item, and sends a check to the customer. If an item doesn't sell in the first auction, then 24/7 Auctions will relist the item for a second auction at no additional charge. If an item doesn't sell, the customer at no charge can pick up the item. Harris said 24/7 Auctions' service is ideal for individuals, estate sales, moving sales, fundraisers, and businesses with liquidation sales and excess inventories.
"Online shopping has been growing at a breakneck pace the past few years. Consumers all over the world now have access to an incredible array of items at the touch of their keyboard. Today, the eBay auction process has become even easier to match buyers and sellers, with 24/7 Auctions doing all the work to save the seller an incredible amount of time and effort, while providing the buyer with confidence that they will receive the item purchased in a timely and efficient manner," Harris said. "By using 24/7 Auctions, North County residents now have the ability to effortlessly sell their items on eBay to buyers in a worldwide online marketplace, dramatically increasing the probability that their item will sell for the price that they expect."
Based on experience as an eBay certified Trading Assistant, 24/7 Auctions has created a list of accepted items that sell best in the online marketplace. The store accepts items with an assumed value of at least $50 in the following categories: computers and networking equipment, electronics, cameras, jewelry, purses and shoes, musical instruments and equipment, sports and hobby equipment, and video game systems.
During its September grand opening month, 24/7 Auctions will waive the $10 drop-off fee and will list items for free. The store is paid a 28 percent commission once the item has sold. EBay auction shopping is a highly convenient form of home shopping and is as simple as bidding for the item you want. Many buyers use the online marketplace because they are looking for something that traditional online or "brick and mortar" stores just don't sell. In addition, many new, almost new, slightly used and hard-to-find items are sold on eBay every day. Today, there are more than 100 million eBay members worldwide. For the second quarter of 2004, eBay's consolidated net revenue was $773.4 million, up 52 percent year over year. For 2003, the company generated consolidated net revenues of $2.17 billion, a 78 percent increase over the previous year.
Harris, who has 20 years of franchising experience at the helm of Cindy's Cinnamon Rolls worldwide, said that 24/7 Auctions franchise opportunities will be available on October 1. The company forecasts the opening of 200 stories nationwide by the end of 2005. The comprehensive franchise program will assist franchisees with store design, logos, marketing and sales materials and assistance, and ongoing franchise support. The franchise fee for each store is $15,000, with territories available. The estimated cost to open one store is $45,000 to $80,000.
