OVERLAND PARK, KS -- (Marketwire) -- 04/07/09 -- Secure Passage, the leading provider of automated security analysis and compliance solutions for firewalls, routers and switches, today announced that company co-founder Jody Brazil has been named president and chief technology officer. In his new role, the veteran security industry pioneer, innovator and entrepreneur will take the lead on setting policy and strategic direction for Secure Passage to ensure the company's continued success as it navigates through a period of accelerated growth, rapidly increasing global demand for its flagship FireMon solution, and continual change in the security solutions market.
"I have known Jody for 15 years and admire his intellect, tenacity and drive as much as I do his professionalism, dynamic nature and character. He is a strategic thinker with the highest ability to execute throughout the organization, a proven executive who has a notable track record of defining opportunity and building businesses," said Secure Passage CEO and co-founder Gary Fish. "Jody pioneered this market and is the right person to lead Secure Passage at this time, as the company sits squarely in a dynamic marketplace that presents significant opportunities for growth and partnership. Jody's entrepreneurial spirit, combined with his business and technology experience, will play an important role going forward."
In 1997, while CTO of FishNet Security, Brazil invented the market for network security device change monitoring in response to a major telecommunications customer's network outage problems. After identifying that an unauthorized firewall configuration change was to blame for the outage, Brazil engineered an application that automatically monitored and alerted IT administrators when unauthorized changes occurred. By 2001, the application emerged as FireMon, the industry's first configuration change monitoring solution. In 2004, Fish and Brazil started Secure Passage to continue development and marketing of FireMon, and FireMon continues to be the most sought after automated security analysis and compliance solution available.
"I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to lead Secure Passage during this exciting time of growth and innovation," said Brazil. "A great product, combined with increased market opportunity and financial stability, paves the path for our long-term success and continued market leadership. Above all, the dedication and capability of our people, combined with our solid partnerships and loyal customers, will enable us to continue to perform at the top of the industry."
Before co-founding Secure Passage, Brazil spent eight years as FishNet Security's CTO. Previously, he was president and founder of Beta Technologies, a network services and Internet application development company. A few of Brazil's major accomplishments include: implementing the first load-balanced deployment of Check Point firewall software in 1997, and engineering the security solution that allowed the transfer of criminal history data over the Internet for the first time, as approved by the FBI. He holds a bachelor's of science degree in physics from Kansas State University.
